Franklin County is located in east central Kansas. It is named for Benjamin Franklin, a Founding Father.
The seat and largest city are both Ottawa. It is located just west of the Kansas City area.
The county borders Douglas, Johnson, Miami, Linn, Anderson, Coffey and Osage Counties.
Main highways through the county include I-35, US-50, US-59, K-33 and K-68.
